STEP 2 :MENTAL PREPARATION
Before undergoing foot and ankle surgery, it is important to mentally prepare yourself for the upcoming procedure. Mental preparation can help reduce anxiety / stress, and can improve your overall recovery. Lets discuss some strategies to help you mentally prepare for foot and ankle surgery.
Firstly One key strategy for mental prep is to educate yourself about the surgery.
Also, understanding the procedure, potential risks, and expected outcomes can help alleviate fears and uncertainties.
GOAL setting is importance- ask yourself what are you trying to get out of this surgery and write it down!!!
Additionally, practicing relaxation techniques like deep breathing / meditation / PMR can help calm your mind / reduce anxiety leading up to the surgery. Consider the relaxation before surgery course in the course
Do you know the Realistic time frames for time off feet / recovery/ and get back on your feet and back into life and return to activity of daily living and /or work related duties.
After 3 or 4 weeks its boredom that gets you
Entertainment: - Stock up on books, movies, games, and other forms of entertainment to help pass the time. Netflix series etc
Stay Connected:- Plan for how you’ll stay in touch with friends and family during recovery (e.g., phone calls, video chats).
